The fine print

Privacy Policy

Rail Riot is put on by students and volunteers, not a data company. This page spells out what we collect when you apply to ride, sign up to volunteer, or ask about sponsoring — and what we do with it.

01

Rider applications

When you apply to ride, the form asks for your full name, email address, age, and what you ride — snowboard or ski. Phone number, social handle, sponsors, extra notes, and a trick reel link are optional.

We use those details to review your application, contact you about check-in, practice, and the event, and build the start list. Applications are seen only by the Rail Riot crew.

02

Volunteers and sponsors

Volunteer sign-ups run through a Microsoft Forms questionnaire, so anything you enter there is also covered by Microsoft's own privacy practices. Sponsor enquiries sent from the Get Involved page arrive in our inbox as email.

We use both to follow up about the event, and for nothing else.

03

Trick reel links

You send us a link to your own clip — Google Drive, Dropbox, YouTube, Vimeo or similar. The file stays in your account and you control who can open it. We only open the link to watch your riding.

04

What we don't do

We don't sell, rent, or trade your information, and we don't add you to marketing lists. This site doesn't run advertising trackers.

05

Photos and video on the night

Rail Riot is filmed and photographed on the night for the past-events archive, the recap edits, and our social channels. If you're on the rail or in the crowd, you may appear in that footage.

Tell a crew member on site if you'd rather not be featured and we'll do our best to honour it.

06

Where it's kept and for how long

Rider applications are stored in our event database, and a copy of each one is emailed to the event organiser so it can be answered. Volunteer responses are held by the sign-up tool we use.

We keep applications for the current event and a reasonable time afterwards, so riders can be invited back. Ask us and we'll delete yours sooner.

07

Your choices

Email us any time to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it removed from our records.

Rider applications have a minimum age of 13. If you're under 19, please make sure a parent or guardian knows you've applied.
